I found this little recipe (along with a lot of other ones) on BodyBuilding.com
I’m obsessed with coffee so I thought I would try it out. I still haven’t acquired the taste for whey protein yet but adding these few ingredients made it a little more tolerable.
Chocolate Coffee Shake
Ingredients:
2 scoops of chocolate protein
1 cup of skim milk
5 ice cubes
1 cup of water
1 spoonful of instant coffee!
Enjoy! (or just try to get it down without gagging)
New music always gets me hyped and I definitely need some motivation for this week at the gym!
I’ve already got my lunch for tomorrow made and waiting in the fridge so I don’t have to grab something at the Union again. It’s so much easier to stay on track with my eating if I prepare my own meals.
Food is ready, ipod is ready and I’ve got my mind right. Time to kick ass this week

Hello again! I’m excited to get back on track and not a train track so that I can get run over.
I’ve been super stressed out about things that aren’t even that big of a deal and I’m crying over emails and yelling at my cell phone and not even wanting to spend time at the pool with my mom because I’m hating myself. It’s the worst feeling I’ve had.
I went to the store today and bought some healthy foods, but more importantly I didn’t buy any junk. I’m going to document my progress, which will be slow and difficult but I’ll be happier because I can control what I eat and how much I work out.
It won’t be easy but it will be worth it.

I have been eating horribly the last two weeks, I’ve been under so much stress and my body is not responding well at all. Once I got back from Ohio on Sunday I decided to be a vegetarian for the week. It’s only day two, but I’m feeling a lot better already. Banana for breakfast, salad for lunch, whole-grain pasta for dinner…..everything is so delicious and healthy!
I know that going completely vegetarian is not a life long thing for me because let’s face it, I’m a chicken addict. But adding all of these fruits and vegetables into my diet makes me feel amazing and I’m so happy to be back on track.

Okay just a heads up, this is going to be long….sorry
A big problem I’ve noticed that girls have is being scared to lift weights for fear of looking “bulky”. As a Kinesiology major I’ve learned that 70% of strength gains in women is neurological. Women typically don’t produce enough testosterone to bulk up like men do when they lift weights. Also, my brother and a few of our friends (who are all guys) are gym rats, and their main goal is to gain muscle. They typically eat a lot of food and drink protein shakes in order to gain weight. I feel the best thing to do for us girls is to eat healthy, a good mixture of protein, fruits, vegetables, water (I’m sure you’ve heard this before). Anyways to actually answer your question, I like to do a mixture of free weights and machines. For example for my arm day yesterday:
I used a curl bar to do my bicep curls
Dumbbells for triceps extensions, and rows
I used my own body weight for bench dips (some people use plates for additional weight)
Then I used a machine for chest presses because I’m not totally comfortable using free weights for bench press yet
I hope this kind of answers your question….good luck!

So true.
I almost decided not to workout this morning because when my alarm went off at 7am, I was not feeling it; I decided to sleep for another hour. I didn’t have class until 11 today so when I made it on to campus by 9, I knew I still had plenty of time to workout and get myself cleaned up before class. I felt great knowing that I didn’t just given in this morning and take an off day when I clearly don’t need it.
- Friend: How was your workout???
- Me: It was great! I probably won't be able to move my arms tomorrow but that's how I like it! haha and the place where I work out has treadmills that I'm obsessed with!!
- Friend: Amen lol and what's so good about the treadmills?
- Me: Well it's really smooth to run on and it has a badass touch screen and there is a little fan on the front that is super nice because I sweat my ass off lol
- Friend: sounds badass!!
And oh my goodness did I miss lifting weights! I might not be able to walk tomorrow but it will feel great!
Super excited to start HIIT!
I need that lean muscle!!
But I can’t wait to get back at the Rec so I can hit the weights! (4 days)
I’m looking into buying some protein powder to compliment my strength training, and I was wondering what kind do you guys recommend/ or don’t recommend?
My roommate and left around 6 this morning to go running at Town Lake before the sun came up and everything melted. It was my first time running outside since high school so I knew it was going to be rough. I ran about a mile and walked the rest but I’m really proud of myself.
I need someone to come and stretch/massage my quads. Oh wishful thinking :)
